Digital monsters and HD ready home entertainment

The famous Digimon characters were first seen in the 1990s and have since gone from strength to strength with cartoons, video games and lots of other products available for kids that love these digital creatures. They appeal to children of all ages with younger ones enjoying the simple card games based on the characters and older ones more keen to master the computer games that are based around these monsters and the world they inhabit. A good machine to play such games on is a multimedia laptop as they have large displays and high quality sound systems. These same features also make them popular for watching movies on. There have been nine movies so far based on the Digimon characters, with two more slated for release in the near future. If your children are fond of these films then buying them a portable PC on which to watch them is a good idea as they can also play the games on it. Some manufacturers have developed a type of HD TV that can receive images in standard format and then display them in a format very close to high definition in terms of picture quality and these would make good sets for your kids to watch the movies on and see them as they have never seen them before. There is no need to buy a 50 inch monster as there are plenty of models with screens of just 21 inches in size which are ideal for a child’s bedroom.

Clear vision

Once you try a new flat screen television it is difficult to go back to a conventional set as the clarity and detail are much better, especially when watching high resolution broadcasts. CRT displays appear fuzzy and dull in comparison, which is not surprising as the technology behind them is now quite old. The kind of vision that is required to create characters like the Digimon is not something that everybody is blessed with but this does not stop us from enjoying the creativity of other individuals. Buying yourself a DVD HDD recorder will enable you to record many hours of films and TV programmes with no need to worry about running out of space so you can build up a library of all the animated series and films that have been released to date. This could come in very handy when you are at a loss as to how to entertain your children. Parents that would like to encourage their children’s creativity and make them more proactive might think about them buying a new digital camcorder which they can learn how to use under supervision. It should not take them long to get the hang of as they are very easy to operate. Automatic focus and other features mean that all you have to do is point and shoot until you are ready to try your hand at adjusting various parameters manually. With some help and encouragement from you, your kids may well develop a real passion for filming.

Different interests

Adults are not normally that enthusiastic about Digimon so a DVD player for the children to use in their own rooms could be a worthwhile investment. The animated series can be bought in the shops so they can be watched whenever your kids want. If you cannot find them in your local shops then there are plenty of websites where they can be ordered from. A box set would make a nice Christmas present and keep them entertained for hours on end. A disc player on its own is not much use of course so an LCD TV would make another nice gift, for a birthday perhaps. These are the most popular type of television these days as they have such a clear display and are more suitable than plasma screens for smaller sets. Characters such as the Digimon attract a loyal following in many countries and there are many forums and chat rooms that are devoted to everything to do with them. Encouraging your children to join some of these by buying them a netbook would also be a good introduction to computing for them. These lightweight machines are significantly cheaper than their fully-loaded counterparts so are ideal for younger kids to learn on. Once they have proved that they can be responsible with a PC then you could think about buying something more substantial. There are many graphic design applications around with which they could experiment and try to create their own characters based on the Digimon ones.

Making connections

If you do buy a television and disc player for your children, make sure an HDMI socket is present on both machines so that they can be connected to each other in order to watch hi-def films. As they grow older they will naturally start to take an interest in action movies and dramas so decent equipment will be a good investment as it should serve them well for a number of years. If any of your offspring show a genuine talent for creating animated characters then when they are ready it would be a good idea to buy them a well-specified laptop notebook that has enough processing power to open and manipulate large media files. It would be frustrating for them to try and do this on an older or less capable machine and it is important to encourage children’s talents as it helps them build self-confidence and could be the basis for a successful career when they grow up. The colourful scenery and digital monsters that feature in the Digimon films and cartoons are appealing to young minds and when viewed on HD ready equipment they really come to life. All this electronic apparatus might sound rather expensive but it does not need to be bought all at once and you might be surprised at some of the bargains to be found online and in your local electrical goods stores. Much of it can be enjoyed by the whole family as well so is good value for money.
